When
a body jumps and lands on a surface the impact force with which the foot
strikes the ground rebounds off the surface and vibrates up through the
body as an energy shockwave. This shockwave affects not only muscles and
tendons, but also the knees, hips, and the lower back. Sports medicine
experts propose that the body feels three times its weight in pressure
with each foot-fall in running and up to seven times it weight when it
jumps. By providing a properly sprung floor we give students a dance surface
that absorbs energy and thus prevents future over-use injuries. The addition
of Marley - a quality vinyl dance surface - lessens the dancer’s
chance of slipping thus allowing freedom in movement and a clearer focus
on performing. |

Studio 3: RDC is pleased to offer a Pilates studio run independently by a highly
trained instructor, Beth Tracy. All appointments are scheduled through
her, though we will take information to pass on. |
